It’s been about four months since I moved off the previous server to the Mac2mini. In the process of doing so I’ve found that, while it was a good interim solution, I simply need more RAM and a better CPU than a Core 2 Duo.
Thankfully, my friend upgraded his old server and I’m now provisioned as a virtual machine on that hardware.
I’m now running an 8-core VPS with 8 GiB of RAM. While this setup is the same amount of memory as the Mac mini 3,1, I can easily provision more if needed. We’re making use of virsh and KVM so the virtual machines are easy enough to expand.
Here’s to hoping that I have several more months on this server with as few problems as I had with the old server!
